Summer season starts early for Bancroft Village Playhouse

Since the spring of 2015, Hospice North Hastings has operated the Village Playhouse. Funds raised at the theatre have been covering the costs of restoring one of Bancroft’s landmarks and we also use the funds we raise to support the programs and services that are offered by Hospice North Hastings in our community. Hospice North Hastings does not receive any health care dollars, so the Playhouse provides us with fun, culturally exciting ways to create a revenue stream.

Last summer we welcomed an amazing line-up of shows during July and August and this year, we’re starting the party early by launching our summer season in June to accommodate more shows and more great talent.

This season we’re focusing on both music and theatre with an extended run of “Hastings the Musical.” This show had rave reviews last summer when it launched in Tweed and we can’t wait to learn all about our local history when this production hits our stage for seven shows.

We’re thrilled to welcome a new group of kids to the “It Takes a Village Summer Theatre Camp,” and this year they’re working on “Peter Pan, The Musical.” Our patrons love live music, so our summer season also features musical tributes to Johnny Cash, AC/DC and to the music of the 50s and 60’s with the RevTones. Add to this list some comedic theatre and a few surprises and 2018 will be a summer to remember!
